Airline Travel Nightmare: One Woman’s Experience with American Airlines
Flying in the United States has been a major headache recently. Severe winter weather has caused an onslaught of flight delays and cancellations, causing frustration for passengers, pilots, and crew alike. One woman, Jessee Gettins, had a particularly miserable experience with American Airlines and took to TikTok to share her story.
The Disaster Begins
In a viral video with over 121,000 views, Gettins recounts her recent trip with American Airlines and states that she would “rather chew glass than fly American Airlines ever again in my entire. life. ” According to Gettins, every aspect of her trip was a disaster. She was initially told the wrong terminal for her flight to Toronto and was then switched to a smaller plane with no working bathrooms for the three-hour duration.
Flight Delayed, But Not Really
After the first leg of her trip, Gettins arrived in Toronto and was informed that her flight was delayed. While the airline offered rebooking options, they were described as “so bad that the devil himself would not have concocted them. ” One of the options would have taken her from Toronto to New York to Miami, and then finally to Orlando. Realizing that she could still make her connection in Philadelphia, Gettins and others decided to stick with their original flights.
However, 15 minutes before the scheduled boarding time, all passengers received a notification that the flight was not delayed and would be taking off as planned. Gettins then quickly ran to the boarding gate, only to find out that there was no plane and boarding was not actually happening. The group was then told that the plane was on its way from Washington and they would be able to board within 20 minutes. But, as Gettins points out, it takes much longer than 20 minutes to prepare a plane for takeoff.
The Situation Gets Worse
After waiting for the plane to arrive, the group was told that it would still be another 30 minutes before they could board. Then, the airline claimed they could not locate the entire flight crew, causing further delays. Eventually, the flight was delayed again, causing Gettins to miss her connection. The only solution offered by the airline was for her to fly to Philadelphia and hope for a solution that did not involve her traveling around the country.
The Aftermath
After the chaotic experience with American Airlines, Gettins was transferred to a different airline and finally reached her destination. However, the airline refused to offer any compensation or points, blaming the delays on weather conditions. Gettins has since declared that she will never fly with American Airlines or its affiliates again.
