Hilton Head Island, a popular destination for South Carolinians, will now have more direct options for travel to Chicago thanks to United Airlines. The airline has announced that it will be adding new routes between Hilton Head Island Airport (HHH) and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).

Starting on April 3, 2026 and running through August 15, 2026, United Airlines will provide daily flights from HHH to Chicago. Additionally, there will be nonstop flights on Saturdays from March 7 to October 10, 2026.

This announcement comes at an exciting time for the Hilton Head airport, as it is currently undergoing a terminal expansion project set to be completed in 2026. The expansion will not only upgrade passenger amenities, but also streamline the travel experience and offer more gate space.

According to Jon Rembold, the airports director for Beaufort County, “United Airlines’ continued investment in Hilton Head Island strengthens our connection to the world. ” He also emphasized that this expanded service to Chicago will provide more flexibility and convenience for both residents and visitors. The new flights will coincide with the opening of the new terminal expansion in mid-April 2026.

United Airlines has been expanding its network out of Chicago, offering more nonstop options across the country. With the addition of Hilton Head Island, there will be more daily departures to this popular destination.
