JAMAICA, NY – The scandal surrounding Kathryn Bliss is sending shockwaves through the JFK business community—and not just because of what she did, but because she got away with it.

In a damning Recommended Order from the New York State Department of Economic Development, Bliss was formally denied recertification as a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) for Cypress King, Inc. (Aqueous Solutions). The findings were crystal clear: she wasn’t running the company—her husband was.

The state’s own investigation revealed Bliss lacked technical experience, managerial control, and even made less money than her husband and an employee. While he ran operations, she stuck to clerical tasks like payroll and insurance. On paper, she owned 51% of the company. In reality, she was a figurehead.

But it didn’t stop there.

Sources say Bliss attempted to divorce her husband on paper to forcibly remove him from ownership—allegedly tricking him into signing documents misrepresented as business paperwork. At the same time, she was reportedly having an affair with her new business partner and conspiring to expand her reach into other airport-linked ventures.

So how did she still get certified?

Despite the formal denial and overwhelming evidence, Bliss launched an appeal, activated her media ties, and pulled strings through a shadowy network of political allies. Miraculously, her WBE certification was reinstated—raising serious questions about corruption, favoritism, and backroom deals.

“She hijacked a program designed to empower real women business owners,” said one furious JFK vendor. “And now she’s flaunting the certification like she earned it.”

For minority- and woman-owned businesses struggling through red tape and scrutiny, Bliss’s success story isn’t inspirational—it’s infuriating. It tells them: cheat, lie, and network with the right people—and you’ll be rewarded.

This is bigger than one fraud. It’s a case study in how systems meant to promote equity are weaponized by insiders for personal gain.

And unless someone blows the whistle louder, Kathryn Bliss will keep cashing in—at JFK’s expense.
