Frontier Airlines Enhances Travel to New Orleans for Mardi Gras 2026
Mardi Gras is an annual carnival that attracts visitors from all over the United States to New Orleans, Louisiana. However, for many, the biggest challenge of this festive event is finding an affordable flight to get there. To make it easier and more cost-effective for travelers nationwide to attend the celebrations, one ultra-low-cost carrier, Frontier Airlines, is introducing new routes and increasing service to the Big Easy.
New Routes and Increased Service Frequency
Frontier Airlines, previously known for its no-frills reputation, is undergoing a major transformation with its new “New Frontier” initiative. As part of this, the airline will add 12 new routes and boost service frequency on existing routes to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) throughout February 2026.
The new routes, which will be in operation from February 12 to 22, are as follows:
– Charlotte, N. C. (CLT)
– Newark (EWR)
– New York (JFK)
– Las Vegas (LAS)
– Chicago O’Hare (ORD)
– Austin, Texas (AUS)
– Cincinnati (CVG)
– Washington Dulles (IAD)
– New York (LGA)
– Miami (MIA)
– Phoenix (PHX)
– Tampa, Fla.
Frontier’s goal with these temporary routes is to provide travelers with more frequent and affordable flights to New Orleans during the popular Mardi Gras season. In addition to these new routes, the airline will also increase service frequency from several major cities to New Orleans.
Customer-Focused Upgrades
As part of its “New Frontier” initiative, Frontier Airlines has also introduced a series of customer-focused upgrades. These include new seating options, loyalty perks, and overall service improvements.
The highlights of these upgrades are:
– UpFront Plus Seating: Passengers can now reserve premium seats in the first two rows of the aircraft, with extra legroom, added elbow space, and a guaranteed empty middle seat. – Unlimited Companion Travel: Loyal members can now bring a different travel companion on every Frontier flight. – First Class Seating: In late 2025, Frontier plans to introduce First Class seating. – Overhauled loyalty program: FRONTIER Miles loyalty program now offers simplified earning and redeeming of rewards. Members can earn 10 miles per dollar spent, with multipliers increasing up to 20X at elite tiers. Elite status can be achieved with just 10,000 miles, unlocking benefits like free seat selection, priority boarding, and complimentary bags. Additionally, family mile pooling allows households to combine miles and book trips more easily.
With these updates, Frontier aims to provide a more elevated and comfortable travel experience while still maintaining its low-cost fares.
