Accused Luxury Car Thief Extradited to South Florida from New York
A 26-year-old man, identified as Zakria Khan, has been arrested and extradited to South Florida from New York for his involvement in a luxury car theft operation. Khan was arrested in New York on April 23 for possession of stolen property and was found to be a wanted man in South Florida.
Khan had been out on bond since August after being arrested at Miami International Airport for stealing luxury cars from Miami and Miami Beach hotels. Surveillance videos showed Khan towing the vehicles and storing them in a facility in Hollywood.
One of Khan’s victims, Steve Phelan, reported that his $500,000 Ferrari was stolen by Khan in January. The car was supposed to be delivered to South Florida from Texas but was re-routed to Khan’s hands. A photo was uncovered showing Khan giving a thumbs up as he received the keys to the car.
Phelan expressed his relief upon hearing that Khan had been caught and was now behind bars. He also believes that Khan is a career criminal and is unlikely to change his ways. Khan was denied bond and is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in West Miami-Dade.
Phelan also stated that many people are overjoyed with the news of Khan’s arrest, as it means one less organized crime theft ring targeting luxury vehicles in the area. Khan’s next court hearing is scheduled for next Friday.
This incident highlights the importance of being vigilant and taking necessary precautions when it comes to luxury car theft. It also serves as a reminder to always be aware of your surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
