Small Bahamian Airline Grounded After Fatal Crash

The Civil Aviation Regulators in the Bahamas have suspended the operating certificate of Flamingo Air, a small carrier, after one of their airplanes crashed in North Andros, resulting in the death of 10 individuals.

The Ministry of Transport announced the suspension of Flamingo Air’s operating certificate, effectively halting all flights for the airline. It is currently unclear when or if the airline will be allowed to resume operations.

As of Friday, Flamingo Air’s website was not functional, and their social media pages have either been removed or restricted.

The crash occurred on July 10 when a Flamingo Air-operated Cessna 402 aircraft experienced a mechanical issue while approaching San Andros Airport. Sadly, all nine passengers and the pilot onboard lost their lives.

According to CBS News, the flight was carrying members of a Bahamian musical group to an Independence Day celebration on Andros Island.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the crash.

Flamingo Air offers scheduled flights to various islands within the Bahamas, as well as charter services between the Bahamas and Florida.
