French Bee Expands Route Network to Two New South Asian Destinations

French low-cost carrier French Bee has recently announced the addition of two new South Asian destinations to its route network, both located in the Indian Ocean. These new routes will not only provide more travel options for French travelers, but also for those in North America and even Tahiti, as they can easily connect to these destinations from the airline’s existing flight routes.

Starting in December, French Bee will operate flights from Paris Orly to Malé in the Maldives and Colombo in Sri Lanka. These flights will run twice a week from December 19th until the end of the winter flight season in May 2027. The airline will use Airbus A350-900 aircraft for these flights.

The routes to Malé and Colombo will operate in a triangle tag route, with the flights making a stop in Malé before continuing on to Colombo and then back to Paris Orly. Passengers can also choose to fly one-way between Malé and Colombo, but they must also book a ticket for the Paris flight on at least one end of their journey, as French Bee does not have fifth freedom rights to sell tickets for the Malé-to-Colombo portion separately.

There will be one exception to the twice-weekly flights, with Colombo receiving an additional third flight in January to March 2027. This flight will be a nonstop route to and from Paris Orly, without the intermediate stop in Malé.

In a news release, French Bee CEO Marc-Antoine Blondeau expressed his excitement for this new route, stating that it aligns perfectly with their growth strategy. He also noted that it will tap into a high-potential market that currently lacks direct flights from France. By offering flights to both the beach-resort destination of the Maldives and the culturally and naturally rich country of Sri Lanka, French Bee is catering to two complementary types of travelers.

Tickets for these new routes are now available for purchase. With these additions, French Bee expands its route network and continues to offer affordable and convenient travel options for its passengers.
