United Airlines Receives First Airbus A321XLR, Expanding Long-Range Fleet
United Airlines has officially added the Airbus A321XLR to its fleet, becoming the second U. S. airline to do so. The aircraft, registered as N64321, was delivered to the airline on Wednesday and arrived in Tampa, Florida later that evening. The jet will now have its Starlink wireless internet antenna installed in Tampa before being put into service.
This new addition to United’s fleet marks the beginning of their order of 50 A321XLRs from Airbus. The airline has stated that they plan to utilize these aircraft on routes to smaller cities in Europe and North Africa, as well as destinations in South America. The A321XLRs will also replace United’s aging fleet of Boeing 757s.
While both United and Airbus have yet to comment on the delivery, the airline has announced that they are expecting to receive a total of 12 A321XLRs this year. This will allow them to expand their long-range capabilities and provide more options for their passengers.
American Airlines was the first U. S. carrier to receive the A321XLR, taking delivery of their first aircraft last summer. The -XLR entered service in December and has been performing well for the airline.
The A321XLR is the newest variant of the Airbus A321neo family, offering longer range and increased fuel efficiency. It is capable of flying up to 4,700 nautical miles, making it the longest-range single-aisle aircraft in the world. This extended range allows airlines to operate longer routes with smaller, more fuel-efficient aircraft.
The addition of the A321XLR will not only benefit United Airlines but also their passengers. With the ability to reach more destinations, the airline will be able to offer more convenient and cost-effective options for travelers. This also aligns with United’s commitment to reducing their carbon footprint by utilizing more fuel-efficient aircraft.
As United continues to expand their long-range fleet, passengers can look forward to even more options when it comes to their travel plans. With the A321XLR’s capabilities, the airline will be able to connect more cities and offer a more comfortable and efficient flying experience for their customers.
