Off-Airport Checkpoint in Framingham, Massachusetts to Relieve Congestion at Boston Logan

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Massachusetts Port Authority have joined forces to open an off-airport checkpoint in Framingham, Massachusetts. The aim of this new checkpoint is to screen passengers of select airlines before they arrive at Boston Logan International Airport. This innovative approach is expected to reduce congestion and decrease security wait times at the airport.

The “remote terminal” is located approximately 25 miles west of Boston Logan and is designed to provide travelers with a more efficient and convenient experience. Passengers check in for their flight, drop off their bags, and clear TSA before boarding a Landline bus that will take them directly to the airside gate area at Boston Logan.

Currently, the Framingham terminal is only available for passengers flying with JetBlue or Delta airlines between 5:30 a. m. and 4 p. m. This pilot program is a step towards providing more options for travelers, according to Ha Nguyen McNeill, the acting administrator of the TSA. She states, “Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, TSA is constantly looking at new ways we can make the checkpoint experience smoother and faster for passengers, while maintaining a strong security posture.

Tickets for the checkpoint can be purchased for $9 on the Massport website. Children under the age of 18 can travel for free when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Additionally, parking is available at the Framingham terminal for $7 per day.

The partnership between Massport and Landline was announced last month, and the Framingham terminal is the first of its kind in North America. This collaboration is a significant step towards improving the overall travel experience for passengers.

In conclusion, the off-airport checkpoint in Framingham, Massachusetts is expected to provide travelers with a more efficient and streamlined process. With the goal of reducing congestion and wait times at Boston Logan International Airport, this new checkpoint is an innovative solution that will benefit both passengers and airport authorities.
