Cathay Pacific, one of the leading airlines in the world, has announced the relaunch of their flagship lounge, “The Wing, First”, at Hong Kong International Airport on April 22, 2026. This lounge, located on the east side of Terminal 1, has been a staple of Cathay Pacific’s ground offerings since the airport’s opening in 1998. The newly redesigned lounge is a result of the airline’s continued partnership with London-based design firm StudioIlse, and is a testament to the evolution of their signature design that has been well-received by customers.
According to Ronald Lam, the Cathay Group’s CEO, “The Wing, First has always held a special place in our hearts, as well as our customers’. Its reopening is a significant milestone in the development of our flagship lounge design, and demonstrates our unwavering commitment to prioritizing our customers’ needs. ” He further added that the airline has invested over HK$100 billion in enhancing their fleet, cabin and lounge products, and digital innovation, all with the aim of providing a superior travel experience for their passengers. These initiatives align with Cathay’s vision of becoming the most loved service brand by their customers.
The renovation plan for Cathay Pacific’s lounges began with the reopening of The Bridge in Hong Kong and the Cathay Pacific Lounge in Beijing last year, after undergoing extensive redesigns. The Wing, First is the latest addition to this list, with the airline also planning to launch its first-ever dedicated lounge in New York later this year, upon their move to John F. Kennedy International Airport’s modern Terminal 6 building. In the meantime, The Wing, Business will be temporarily closed for renovations and is expected to reopen in 2027.
The entrance of The Wing, First has been redesigned to offer a warm and inviting ambience to passengers. The lounge’s interior has been thoughtfully curated, keeping in mind the comfort and needs of customers. With this relaunch, Cathay Pacific aims to establish itself as a leader in providing human-centric experiences, which is a true reflection of their brand identity.
