SR Aviation Infrastructure, a subsidiary of real estate investment and development firm SomeraRoad, has recently acquired Republic Jet Center and Stratosphere Development at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, New York. This acquisition secures over 50 acres of land for future aviation infrastructure projects.
Republic Airport, located on Long Island, is a key reliever airport for business aviation in the New York metropolitan area. With increasing congestion and operational constraints at nearby airports such as Teterboro Airport and Westchester County Airport, Republic Airport provides a much-needed alternative for operators.
The company plans to complete previously approved development plans for new hangar facilities at the airport. These facilities will cater to the demand from corporate flight departments, charter operators, and other business aviation users. The multi-phase development will include modern hangar space with hangar door heights reaching 28 feet, designed to accommodate larger and newer business jets. This expansion will increase the available aircraft storage and support infrastructure at the airport.
President of SR Aviation Infrastructure, Jonathon Reeser, expressed excitement about the company’s growth and expansion into one of the most dynamic private aviation markets in the country. The company’s senior advisor, Monte Koch, emphasized the need for accessible hangar space in the New York region as demand for private and business aviation continues to surge.
SR Aviation Infrastructure focuses on the acquisition, development, and leasing of aviation-related real estate, including hangars and other facilities for corporate aviation, flight schools, maintenance providers, and charter operators. With projects in Las Vegas, San Antonio, and Bozeman, the company is building a national portfolio of aviation infrastructure assets.
Republic Airport, one of the busiest general aviation airports in the New York region, plays a crucial role in supporting corporate aviation activity in the metropolitan area. The acquisition by SR Aviation Infrastructure is a significant step towards addressing the increasing demand for hangar space in this region.
