Airport lounges have become a highly sought-after perk for premium travelers in 2026. These lounges, operated by various airlines, offer a range of amenities such as free food and drinks, workspaces, and even shower facilities and spas. As competition for premium travelers intensifies, access to these lounges has become a key factor in choosing which airline to fly with. Some airlines restrict lounge access exclusively to business or first class passengers, while others offer the option to purchase lounge passes regardless of class of service. Here are five airlines that stand out for their luxurious lounges and flexible access options.

United Airlines

With a large domestic network, United Airlines offers access to its United Club and Polaris lounges. The airline has a total of 47 United Club locations and six Polaris lounges, mostly concentrated in its major hubs such as Chicago O’Hare and Houston George Bush Intercontinental. The Polaris lounges, equipped with luxurious amenities like showers, on-demand dining, and premium alcoholic beverages, are exclusively available to international travelers in United’s Polaris business class.

Passengers traveling in United Polaris, international United Business, or transcontinental United Business (from Newark to San Francisco or Los Angeles) can access United Club locations at their departure and arrival airports, with layover access granted only to Polaris or international business class passengers. Additionally, passengers with United Gold or Star Alliance Gold status or above can access United Club locations when traveling on a Star Alliance airline on the same day.

For those who do not qualify for premium travel or elite status, certain United credit card holders receive either a United Club membership (which can also be purchased for $750) or a limited number of one-time United Club passes per year. Passengers who still wish to enter the United Club before their flight can purchase a lounge pass for $59, subject to availability. Inside the United Club, travelers can find comfortable seating, hot and cold food options, and complimentary drinks. United is also continuously expanding and updating its lounge network, with a new design and food concept already implemented at airports like Chicago, Denver, and Newark.

Emirates

Known for its luxurious onboard products, Emirates also offers a global network of over 40 lounges on six continents. The airline’s lounges in its hub in Dubai are particularly impressive, with separate first class and business class lounges in multiple concourses, each almost functioning as a terminal in itself. The first class lounges offer restaurant dining, premium champagne and spirits, complimentary spa services, and direct boarding from the lounge. The business class lounges, while slightly less luxurious, are still found in various locations around the world and offer extensive buffets, full bars, and ample workspace. Emirates’ lounges are known for their signature Middle Eastern flair, with gold accents and light cream-colored furniture.

Access to Emirates’ lounges is primarily granted to first or business class passengers, as well as Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold, and Platinum elite members.
