The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, in collaboration with HMSHost and ASUR Airports, has announced the opening of the first Eataly in a North American airport. This new location, which is part of the recently renovated Terminal 8 at JFK airport, is the first of three Eataly locations planned to launch in the airport this year. The addition of Eataly is part of the Port Authority’s goal to enhance the passenger experience through exceptional dining and retail options.

Developed by HMSHost, part of Avolta, and ASUR Airports, the new Eataly spans over 5,500 square feet and offers a full-service restaurant, a wine bar, and a retail marketplace. This marks the first time that Eataly’s renowned Italian food and lifestyle concept will be available in a North American airport.

With over 60 locations worldwide, including 20 in North America, Eataly offers travelers a menu of classic Italian dishes such as pizza, artisanal pasta, and regional specialties. The restaurant in Terminal 8 can accommodate more than 130 guests, and the wine bar can seat up to 45 people, offering a selection of Italian wines. For those on the go, there is also a café and grab-and-go area serving coffee, soft drinks, and a curated selection of retail items.

Rick Cotton, Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, stated, “Eataly is beloved by New Yorkers and is a world-renowned brand. The opening of Eataly at Terminal 8 demonstrates the Port Authority’s commitment to creating a world-class passenger experience and a unique sense of place at the new JFK International Airport.

Kevin O’Toole, Chairman of the Port Authority, added, “Having iconic global brands like Eataly, alongside locally inspired concessions, will create a unique sense of place at JFK that will be nothing short of world-class.

Steve Johnson, President and CEO of Avolta North America, described the opening of Eataly as a crucial step in redefining the airport dining experience. “Eataly is a well-known and beloved brand with strong roots in New York, and we are proud to bring its world-class Italian cuisine to travelers seeking a superior dining experience,” he said.

Eataly Group CEO, Andrea Cipolloni, also expressed excitement about expanding into major transportation hubs, stating that it allows them to connect with their audience during their travel journey while staying true to their mission of promoting Italian food and wine culture.

The Terminal 8 Eataly also represents a local partnership model, with HMSHost working with four small and local businesses as joint-venture equity partners. These include Queens-based Neir’s Tavern and Ranchito Salvadoreno, as well as The Nourish Spot and FDY Inc.

The location features a fully digital operating model, including self-order kiosks, QR code ordering, and self-checkout technology.
