AUA Announces New Winter Flight Schedule for 2025/2026

Austrian Airlines (AUA) is excited to announce the addition of a new route from Vienna (VIE) to Dubai (DXB) for its 2025/2026 winter flight schedule. This seasonal highlight, known as the “Dubai Deal” or “Winter Experiment,” will operate five times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday) from December 2025 to March 2026. What makes this route particularly interesting is the choice of aircraft – instead of a long-haul jet, an Airbus A320neo will be used. This aircraft is designed for short and medium-haul flights and primarily offers economy seating. The flight time is approximately 5 hours, making Dubai an attractive destination for price-conscious travelers. AUA will be testing this concept in a limited phase during the winter season.

More Flights to Italy and Improved Connections to Rome

For travelers heading to Milan, there is good news – AUA will now fly to Milan Linate Airport instead of the more distant Malpensa, starting from the winter flight schedule on October 26, 2025. This is made possible by the takeover of slots from sister company ITA Airways, also part of the Lufthansa Group. The new route will significantly reduce travel time to the city center, making it a more convenient option for travelers. Up to four flights a day will be available to the city, known for its fashion and elegance.

In addition, AUA will also be strengthening its connections to the Italian capital, Rome-Fiumicino. By the end of the summer flight schedule, the frequency will be increased to up to three times a day or 18 times a week. Thanks to a codeshare agreement with ITA Airways’ hub in Rome, AUA passengers will have access to additional long-haul connections to North and South America.

New Winter Destinations and Increased Service to Popular Routes

AUA’s 2025/2026 winter flight schedule will also include new and improved destinations. For travelers looking for a “coolcation,” flights to the heart of Lapland – Ivalo, Rovaniemi, and Kittilä – will be available once again. These destinations offer the opportunity to observe the Northern Lights. Starting January 25, 2025, Ivalo (Finland) will be served once a week on Saturdays from Vienna.

The route to Bangkok will also have a second daily connection during the winter season, catering to the high demand for this popular destination. Flights to tropical destinations like the Maldives (up to five times a week) and Mauritius (up to three times a week) will continue to be strong. For North American travelers, AUA will offer up to eleven weekly flights to New York (JFK and EWR), as well as connections to Montreal and Boston.
